Alpha Arbutin is a molecule gotten from the bearberry plant, it prevents the formation of melanin. It functions as a tyrosinase inhibitor to provide skin brightening effects. Dark spots and patches are a result of pigments called melanocytes which are produced in skin cells. Melanocytes contain an enzyme called tyrosinase which is essential in melanin formation. They are activated when they come in contact with UV rays, which is why you’ll notice darkening when are exposed to sunlight, especially for extended periods. Alpha Arbutin helps block tyrosinase, thereby keeping hyperpigmentation and darkening at bay.
Benefits
1. Alpha Arbutin has sun protection properties. Arbutin can reduce the degree of skin darkening after sun exposure by inhibiting tyrosinase production.
2. Gentle on skin: Alpha Arbutin does not have a drying or irritating effect, even on dry and sensitive skin types.
3. Improves uneven complexion: Since Alpha Arbutin inhibits tyrosinase, an enzyme that helps with melanin production, it helps prevent and fade dark spots.
4. Effective at fading scars: Alpha Arbutin is also great at fading acne scars and injury scars
5. Brightens skin: Alpha Arbutin prevents dark spot formation, thereby having a brightening effect.
